Cave Hostel

The breakfast served at this hostel is simple and has a variety to choose from. It is located in walking distance to the nightmarket.

We were woken up at 2 am by the motorcyclists in our room: they were extremely rude and disrespectful. Moreover, the room was filled with the smell of feet and sweat.

Breakfast was great, the place is nice. Staff was ok, facilities were good. I enjoyed my stay.

The breakfast station needs a bit of makeover and they don't have shower towel. That's kinda normal in Taiwan but I'll never understand how it is possible that a hostel does not have towels, not even for rent or sale. Also, there are other hostels more central, but in the end the location was ok

I think the best thing about Cave Hostel was the breakfast! The staff kept on replenishing the food served on the table so there’s no problem with eating your fill. There was a lot of variety you can choose among various fruits, vegetables, cheese, and meat to make your own sandwiches or salad. Free coffee and tea are available any time. The bed was comfortable and curtains provided privacy but unfortunately during our stay in the mixed dorm, a group of male high school students were staying in the same dorm room so imagine luggages scattered all over the floor space! The bathroom was not spic-and-span clean but acceptable. The receptionist who received us was efficient and can speak English fluently but she was probably the least friendliest among hostel managers I’ve ever encountered.

The beds were really comfortable and kinda separated with a wall and courtain. I really liket that there were a commom area in the rooftop for chatting and the breakfast was also good :D Exceeded my expectation!

The staff was friendly and helpful. Although their english was not the best, we felt they really tried to help us. Breakfast was good too and we did appreciate it! We had a pleasent stay there and the matress of the bed was comfy, aircon is available and we had a comfortable night sleep.

We didn't feel the rooms were cleaned enough, because previous guests left trash in the room and the next day it was still there. A trash bin in the room could have helped a lot or the rooms should be cleaned more often. The bathroom was not as clean as we hoped (hairs and toilet paper on the floors).

It’s a very good hostel. It’s clean, spacious, quiet, the stuff is friendly and tolerant, the breakfast is nice. I felt calm and taken care of. The manager, Tina, is very friendly!

Their third floor seems to be abandoned.

Sleeping "caves" are spacious, comfortable and well air conditioned. Breakfast is fantastic: toasts, cheese, ham, jam, Nutella, eggs and salad (I really liked sauce with wasabi). Good coffee free all day! Beer, soft drinks and instant noodles same price as 7-eleven.

Bathroom are big, but there is no space to hung or put your clothes. There's just one small hook and shelf directly under the shower so if you put something there it's gonna get wet. Very hot in common rooms. Main common room next to reception(breakfast area) has got only some fans and it gets pretty hot.

The cleanest Hostel until now. It was really comfortable and the staff so Nice. They doing a good job. I probably come Back to Hualien and spend more few nights there.

While being one of the few cheap places to stay in downtown Hualien, you really do get what you pay for. Not really many good things I can say about this place, I guess the beds are ok.

The staff speak about 10 words of English, and aren't helpful at all (to say the least). Despite being advertised as serving food, nothing was served (at least to me) during my stay. Hostel was completely full of Chinese tourists, take that for what you will. Despite there being a TV room on the top floor, none of the channels were working. Everything happened on the ground floor, and I stayed on the third floor. Although this didn't affect me, when I checked out, everyone who was still staying at the hostel had to move to the second floor. No idea why.

Nice communal area and a decent breakfast. Free coffee/water. Great wifi.

Rooms had an overpowering biscuity smell that was quite sickly. The dorms get hot and stuffy. The shower rooms are also hot so you start sweating as soon as you finish showering. Not many showers for the number of people and they are not maintained very well. One shower had no shower gel for 2 days. Breakfast finishes at 9 which is too early.
